Phoenix Funerals has been founded by Mr Pat Pather, the business has been in operation for 35 years having opened it's doors in its Sunford Drive branch in 1985. Phoenix Funerals has been a household name in the South African funeral industry. The business upon inception, serviced the Phoenix area and has expanded operations throughout KZN with branches in Phoenix, Verulam, Durban North, Umhlanga, La Lucia & Glenashley
The business is currently under the efficient leadership of Uresha Mishra and Demarlon Pather who executes the vision of Pat Pather and believes in helping families find peace through offering dignified, elegant funerals that are befitting of their lives lived. Phoenix Funerals is grateful for the support that it has received and believes that this is due to that fact that clientele entrust us with their dearly departed loved ones in respect of our work and meticulous attention to detail. Doves
Releasing funeral doves as part of the service or celebration of the life of a loved one not only pays a poignant tribute to the person who has died, but can also prove emotional uplifting and inspiration for the mourners attending the funeral. The sense of peace and closure is almost tangible

This provides a comforting tribute to the mourners and is a great way to honor a loved one.

Due to the COVID- 19 pandemic and to make funerals easily accessible to people who aren’t able to attend we have live streaming available

Hymn Sheets
We provide hymn sheets for mourners to hymn in a unified way.
Without an Image, there is no tradition. Without Service, there is no image
Premiums
Premiums: are to be paid monthly in advance e.g,:
- • By the 28th of November for December there is a grace period until the 7th of the month they are paying for.
- • By the 28th of December for January
- • If the policy is not paid for one month it will lapse
- • Re-instatement will result in a full waiting period (minimum of 6 months)
COVID -19 REGULATIONS
As you are aware we are currently experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic and under the COVID-19 disaster management Act, funeral procedures have been altered to meet the demands set by the government.
The new laws enforced consist of the following:
- 1. Gatherings at the funeral should be no more than 50 people
- 2. The Clare Estate and Verulam crematorium will not allow more than 20 people per funeral. Compulsory contact tracing forms must be filled and submitted to the crematorium
- 3. People attending the funeral are to wear masks, sanitise their hands and practise social distancing.
In light of the above we have Covert Protection Services outsourced by Phoenix Funerals in which their services include:
- 1. 2 x COVID- 19 approved security guards provided to sanitise and screen temperatures of the attendees of the funeral.
- 2. Security guards will monitor social distancing and ensure all attendees are wearing masks.
- 3. Security guards will fill in the compulsory form for the crematorium and present it to the crematorium officials.
- 4. They will perform duties mentioned above at the crematorium.
- 5. Security guards will be at the funeral venue and santise areas that were used for the funeral.
